BELIZE SHIP REGISTRATION
The International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize (IMMARBE) is recognized as one of the world's most modern shipping registries offering the international maritime community fast and efficient service, reasonable fees, and a high standard of safety. The Belize registry has registered more than 1,600 vessels and has a sound reputation.
ADVANTAGES OF REGISTERING IN BELIZE:
- no restrictions as to who can apply for registration; Only Belize registered agent can apply for application;
- no restrictions on the class, type, or size of vessel that can be registered;
- applications may be submitted by fax allowing for same day registration;
- bareboat charter and dual registrations permitted;
- provisional and permanent registrations available;
- no requirement to have a local crew;
- No need for the tonnage certificate when registering yachts and pleasure vessels;
- Safety Standards. Belize is known for its high standard of safety and is signatory to numerous maritime safety conventions including: Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), Tonnage Measurement of Ships, International Convention on Load Lines, Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage, and International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea;
- Taxation. Vessels registered with IMMARBE are exempt from all forms of local income tax and stamp duties.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION:
- Name of Ship (Need to verify availability)
- Fully completed and signed application form for Registration of Ships
- Application for Minimum Safe Manning Certificate
- Cargo Ship Safety Radio Certificate
- International Tonnage certificate ( exception,yatchts)
- Proof of Ownership (Bill of Sale, Auction Document or Builder’s Certificate)
- Letter of Appointment shipping agents in Belize
- Proof of Compliance with ISM Code-Copy of Document of Compliance and Safety Management Certificate
REQUIREMENTS FOR PERMANENT REGISTRATION:
- Name of Ship (Need to verify availability)
- Application for Registration
- Letter of Appointment appointing us the vessel’s registered agent
- Builder’s certificate if the vessel is new
- A Bill of Sale or Protocol of Delivery if the vessel was previously registered
- A deletion certificate stating the name of the previous owner, that the deletion was granted for transfer to the Belizean Registry, that the vessel is free of liens, encumbrances and commitments.
- Tonnage Certificate issued on behalf of the Government of Belize by surveying company
- Application for Maritime Ship Station License appointing a radio accounting entity
- Cargo Ship Safety Radio Certificate in compliance with GMDSS Code issued on behalf of the government of Belize
- Documents of Compliance and Safety Management Certificate issued on behalf of the government of Belize
